What is a GPA Calculator?

A GPA (grade point average) calculator is an online tool that students can use to find out their average grade point score and see how well they are doing in school. Your GPA is the average of your grades over a set amount of time, shown on a standard scale like 4.0 or 5.0. This could be true for all of your semesters or just one. Your semester GPA shows how well you did in school during that term. The cumulative GPA (CGPA), also called the overall GPA, gives you a complete picture of how well you did in school by averaging your grades from all of your semesters. You can quickly find out your average by entering your grades and credit hours into a GPA calculator. This lets you make goals, keep track of your progress, and see how well you’re doing in school.

It's easy to find out your GPA in three steps.

It’s simple to figure out your GPA.

Write down the names of your classes, grades, and credit hours.

  • For each course, write down the name of the course, the grade you got, and the number of credit hours (or units) you earned.

Change the grades into points

  • Change each letter grade into its grade point value using your school’s grading scale (for example, A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.).

Find out what your GPA is

For each class, multiply the number of credit hours by the grade points.
Count all the grade points you got.
Count how many credit hours you tried to obtain
To get the total grade points, divide them by the total credit hours.
Formula:
GPA = (Total Grade Points Earned) ÷ (Total Credit Hours Attempted)

For example:

  • Course 1: B (3.0) times 3 credits equals 9.0
  • Course 2: A (4.0) times 4 credits equals 16.0
  • Course 3: C (2.0) times 3 credits equals 6.0
    31.0 total grade points

Total Credits: 10 GPA: 31.0 ÷ 10 = 3.1

This calculator will be very helpful for students in Pakistan, schools in the US, and other countries that use the GPA system. It helps students figure out how well they are doing in school, compare their grades, and set academic goals, no matter what the local grading rules are. Just make sure to use the right grading scale for your school.

Can you explain what credit hours are and how to get them?

Your Semester GPA (SGPA) is the average of your grades for the whole semester. You can use it as your grade on your report card for that time. Your university figures it out based on the grades you got in all of your classes that semester, no matter how many credits each class was worth.

Where to Look for Your Semester GPA:

Could you explain what credit cards are and how to get one?

Credit hours, also known as credit hours in English, tell you how much a class is worth based on how many hours of class you have each week. You can see how each class affects your overall GPA.
